NUMBER26 and TransferWise Partner to Offer Fair and Easy International Money Transfers Berlin/London, 25 February 2016 Number26, Europe’s most modern bank account, and TransferWise, the innovative international money transfer platform, today announced a partnership providing Number26 customers with direct, inapp access to TransferWise’s service. “Our goal is to leverage the best banking products from around the world and make them accessible to customers with one tap, creating a FinTech Hub inside the Number26 app,” said cofounder and CEO Valentin Stalf. “And by adding one of the world’s best FinTechs in TransferWise as our flagship partner, we can drive banking innovation much faster than traditional banks.” The service is available starting today to Number26 customers in Austria, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, and Slovakia. Transfers will be permitted from Euros into eight initial currencies: British pounds, United States dollars, Swedish krona, Indian rupees, Australian dollars, Hungarian forints, Swiss francs, and Polish zloty. Support for additional currencies and countries will be added soon. TransferWise and Number26 share a common goal: to reinvent an outdated financial industry and provide a transparent banking experience for consumers. Number26 does this through a mobilefirst focus and an emphasis on innovative features like a paperless eightminute signup, instant push notifications and realtime transaction updates. TransferWise uses peertopeer technology to offer a fairer and easier way to transfer money abroad at a lower cost than with a typical bank or broker. “We want to make it as easy and fair as possible for people who need to send money abroad, so we’re very excited that Number26 customers can now access the TransferWise experience without leaving their banking app,” said TransferWise CEO and cofounder Taavet Hinrikus. “This is a great step towards consumers having a wider choice of financial service providers and getting the best service for them.” The two companies share a common investor in Peter Thiel’s Valar Ventures. The updated app is available today on iOS and Android. About NUMBER26 NUMBER26 is Europe’s first mobile bank built for the digital age.
