Role – Business Development Officer
Reporting to the Queensland Trade and Investment Commissioner - Shanghai, this
position promotes and supports Queensland industry and organisations in investment
and trade opportunities across a range of industries in the East Asia Region.
Assist the business development team in supporting Queensland exporting companies by
undertaking market research.
Liaise with companies and organisations in Queensland to assimilate information required
for market access and trade development.
Assume responsibility for attraction activities, including the organisation and participation
in exhibitions and seminars and dealing with telephone enquiries.
Maintain in-house and external computer databases to ensure access to data and
information on industry sectors/companies and individuals.
Assist with business development promotional activities through co-ordination and
management of promotional functions/seminars/exhibitions.
Oversee promotional literature stocks and maintain filing system.
Provide first point of contact for general enquiries by telephone, in person and

including compilation of regular reports.
Assist Commissioner in the preparation for and support of programs for visits by the
Premier, Ministers, Parliamentary and business delegations.

Trade and Investment Queensland (TIQ) is a statutory body established under the Trade and
Investment Queensland Act 2013.TIQ is Queensland’s export and investment facilitation
agency. TIQ assists international companies to invest in Queensland and helps local

Additional information
This is a Locally Engaged Staff (LES) position based in Beijing, China:
o terms and conditions of employment are determined by a contract of
employment compliant with local labour laws, and
o remuneration is in local currency.
Applicants must be fluent both in written and spoken English and Chinese.
Applicants must hold the requisite residential and work permits.
Travel both locally and internationally may be a requirement of this role.
Some after-hours work may be a requirement of this role.
No assistance will be provided with travel for take up duty, taxation, accommodation
or overseas living allowances.
It is desirable that applicants hold knowledge in one or more of the Queensland
Government’s key industry sectors (resources, construction, agriculture, tourism, and

Public sector employees appointed to the role will be required to:
o take leave without pay from the public sector for the duration of the contract;

o disclose any previous employment as a lobbyist within the last two years.
A two (2) month probation period may apply.
