at 4 Miles 4 Water Run/Walk
to Increase Awareness of Clean Drinking Water
(CLEVELAND, OH) -- Pure Water Technology® of Ohio (PWT), the leading provider of
bottleless pure drinking water systems for commercial business and industry, co-founded
and sponsored 4 Miles 4 Water, the hugely successful run/walk on May 10, 2014 at
Cleveland Metroparks’ Edgewater Park at Lakefront Reservation.
4 Miles 4 Water focused on the awareness of clean and safe drinking water locally, as
well as globally. PWT’s partnership with Drink Local. Drink Tap, Inc. (DLDT), the non-profit
organization that connects people to their local watershed, raised over $60,000 that will
contribute to building a new water well in Uganda. Over 1,500 people from all over the
northeast Ohio community came together to learn about clean water, and enjoy
recreation, friendly competition, food trucks, and a free reggae concert.
PWT was the sole provider and source of water at this zero waste event. The Cleveland
and Atlanta based company teamed up with DLDT last summer to start planning this
large scale, unique event to spread the DLDT mission, raise funds and inspire people to
appreciate our water.
4 Miles 4 Water broke the Guinness World Record for the most people carrying a
container of water on their head at one time with 508 participants, thus breaking the
previously held record of 474. The Guinness World Record was pursued in the 4 Miles 4
Water programming as a way to educate participants and illustrate that around the
world many people walk far distances everyday to haul water, many times balancing it
on their head. The average length traveled for clean water in Uganda is four miles.
Thomas Skerl, President of PWT, stated, “Our company’s participation in and sponsorship
of events, such as 4 Miles 4 Water, is inspired by our commitment to the environment.
PWT is a socially responsible company and is dedicated to partnering with non-profit
organizations in order to educate the community about clean, non-bottled water.
Previous and continued sponsorships and donations include Earth Fest, World Water
Day, and The Gay Games.”

“Pure Water Technology® and its President Thomas Skerl were instrumental in helping to
make 4 Miles 4 Water a success. Their leadership, time and support enabled our
inaugural event to exceed all expectations,” stated Erin Huber, Executive Director and
Founder of DLDT.
Tap water, water fountains, bottled water and filter coolers contain contaminants,
chemicals, bacteria and slime. However, Pure Water Technology® PHSI’s water purifier
provides a patented “activated oxygen” system that keeps the water tank clean and
delivers fresh, cold and oxygenated drinking water. This innovative technology allows
businesses a green alternative, reduces heathcare premiums, eliminates the challenges
of bottled water in the workplace and saves company’s money.
