They built their kitchen in 2013 and now provide free cooking classes to people who use the food bank as well as other groups of people living on limited finances -- classes that increase nutrition knowledge and food skills while keeping in mind the participants limited budgets. They also started the Fresh Produce Box program (see page 2 of this newsletter) to allow everyone the opportunity to improve their nutritional intake in an affordable manner. In addition, their kitchen provides a new team-building opportunity where groups prepare healthy food for distribution through the food bank. They are planning to get rid of the words “food bank”, as it is now so much more than that. The Eden name will be kept, as will the apple logo. If you have any ideas for a new name, please submit it to firstname.lastname@example.org. Survey Over 64% of the congregation are happy with the sermons as they currently are, but there was still room for constructive discussion on the subject last Sunday. Since this Sunday is Communion Sunday, we will move the next discussion topic Q4 to February 8. Annual General Meeting Our AGM will take place on Sunday, February 22, after the service. With long winter trips, cruises and Florida beckoning, we really need you to consider being on the PAR program, which guarantees us a set amount in offerings every week. If you really care about our survival, remember that the bills still have to be paid whether or not you’re basking in the sun on a desert island. Most of us handle our household expenses using the automatic withdrawal method. You can do the same for your church. (We’ve heard all the reasons why not, and not one of them is even slightly convincing. Sorry. (Ed.)) The packages are available at the back of the church for your convenience. The minimum amount for PAR is just $10.00 per month, or $2.37 per week. Withdrawals from your bank account would be on the 20th of each month and any future changes should be submitted by the 10th to be effective in that month. Completed authorization and a void cheque should be put in a sealed envelope and given to Doug or any member of Session for forwarding to our treasurer. Note: Contributions can also be made by credit card. The necessary form is part of the information package. Eden Community Food Bank – Fresh Produce Box Program Good Food For All!
