STATE OF MICHIGAN DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY WATER RESOURCES DIVISION PO Box 30458 Lansing, Michigan 48909-7958 NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING TAKE NOTICE that the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality’s (MDEQ) Water Resources Division (WRD) will hold a public hearing at the Saugatuck High School Media Center, 401 Elizabeth Street, Saugatuck, Michigan 49453, on Friday, April 11, at 6:30 p.m. Enter the building from the front parking lot and follow the left corridor to the room named Media Center. The purpose of this hearing is to secure the views of interested persons concerning the following application for permit: Application for permit 13-03-0138-P under Part 301, Inland Lakes and Streams, of the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act, 1994 PA 451, as amended, by Ship’n Shore Hotel LLC, Attention Randy King, 13520 Barry Street, Holland, Michigan 49424. The applicant proposes to reconfigure the existing marina to allow for rafting and mooring of watercraft along the existing seawall. An area of Kalamazoo River bottomlands measuring 269 feet long by approximately 93 feet wide will be designated for broadside boat mooring. Boats will be first broadside moored to the existing seawall, with additional boats tied together with rope and protected with fenders (rafted) to those moored at the seawall. The project is located at Ship’n Shore Hotel, 528 Water Street, Saugatuck Michigan, 49453, in T3N, R16W, Section 9, City of Saugatuck, Allegan County, Michigan. The public hearing record will remain open for ten days after the public hearing date. Any written comments to be submitted for the public hearing record must be received at this address on or before the close of the record. The hearing will be held pursuant to Section 30105 of the cited statute. The hearing will not be a legal proceeding, witnesses will not be sworn, and there will be no cross examination. Public hearings are primarily informational and are held to encourage the expression of views and presentation of facts. The MDEQ will, upon written request, provide a copy of the MDEQ's decision on this application.
